This month we get to know Marty who loves a soothing yoga nidra practice as much as she loves hanging upside down!
I first came across yoga while working at a gym back in 2011. Looking back I believe I just wanted to learn how to fold my body into a pretzel-like shape and master a head stand. I wanted to try all those weird looking poses. I knew nothing about yoga and its benefits.
As time went by I was slowly losing interest in soulless repetitive gym yoga classes and just when I was about to give up I discovered The Garden. Passionate, knowledgeable, kind teachers, the variety of classes to chose from and most of all the studio’s happy vibes and friendly atmosphere keep me coming back to The Garden.
I truly love our vibrant, sweaty, challenging vinyasa classes, but I also relish slow paced yin and restorative classes for the calmness they bring. My current love affair though is called yoga nidra, a super relaxing meditation practice.
I’m slowly learning how to let go of things I can’t control and be content with what I have. When my mind is too crowded and I need some clarity I just get into my beloved headstand and my thoughts fall into place.
