In Gratitude

As we look back over the year we can’t help but burst with gratitude for all that 2016 provided.  It has been an extraordinary year filled with highs and lows; ups and downs; great challenges and rewards.  But we see each and every experience as a gift, for it all gets woven together into the tapestry of our lives.

2016 began with a bang!  With the café being transferred to new loving hands, Botannix Yoga came to stand steady and comfortably on her own two feet.  The Garden Studio got a face-lift with new paint and whiz-bang blinds, and an upgrade to our sound system, mats, bolsters, blankets and other props for the practice.  Studio 2 was developed into a library and consult-room for private yoga, meditation, massage and coaching sessions, with many individuals benefiting from personalised guidance and care.

Our weekly offerings became much more diversified.  Karen’s Pure Yin and Yin Flow classes became some of our most popular classes and Amy introduced a greatly appreciated Sunday afternoon Yoga Nidra session. We also hosted a series of workshops and courses including Lori’s 4-part journey into the Sacred Feminine, Karen’s Yin Master classes, the popular Totally Classic – a gentle vinyasa practice to a classical music soundtrack and our first ever Men’s Yoga Workshop.  We also offered several Meditation and Pranayama courses, not to mention Jeff’s Flying Dragon workshop and Restorative Chakra Balancing workshop which have become staples on the Botannix Yoga calendar.  Through her Urban Retreats at Botannix Yoga, Kate also provided the opportunity for yogis and yoginis to have a full-day immersion into all things yoga.

Our Botannix Yoga Teacher Training program graduated another group of inspiring new teachers, several of whom are now sharing the teachings in their own way, at Botannix Yoga and elsewhere.  We developed a 60-hour mentorship program for newly certified teachers and a 50-hour Advanced Teacher Training program exploring the Mythology of the yoga tradition (which will be on offer for the first time over Easter 2017).

2016 was a pivotal year for Botannix Blue Mountains Retreat.  Starting with 40 acres of conservation land at the top of the Blue Mountains, a dream and a passionate desire to create and share sacred space, Andy and Jeff, with the help of so many yogis, friends, family members & tradies have made great progress on constructing a very special and intimate space for yoga, meditation, celebration and healing.  Our first retreat event is a 5-day Teacher Training immersion scheduled for Easter 2017.  Yoga and Meditation Retreat dates for 2017 will be announced very soon so keep your eyes peeled.

A very special thank you is due to all of the generous and talented teachers at Botannix Yoga who each week give so much of themselves in a genuine desire to uplift the lives of others.  And behind the scenes Kate and Amy, Marion, Michelle and Erika have helped to grease the wheels and make all this flow smoothly.

And of course to all of our members and friends at Botannix Yoga who show up on the mat day after day, thank you.  Without you we would not exist.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah & Happy New Year!
